Spencer Junior Collins

Rhodhiss, NC- Mr. Spencer Junior Collins, age 82, of Hillcrest Avenue, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at home. Born December 28, 1923 in Appalachia, Virginia, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Spencer and Delilah May Collins and the husband of the late Gladys Collins. Mr. Collins had worked in coal mines and cotton mills. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Blair of the home; two sons, Steve Collins of Connelly Springs; Gary Collins of Big Stone Gap, VA; one brother, Bill Collins of Hudson; two sisters, Margaret Fritz of Hudson; Betty Preston of Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David E. Collins; two sisters, Loretta Lawson; Naoma Ashley and one brother, Sam Collins. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Pastor Johnny Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 on Monday at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: William Stinnett, Jason Blair, Steve Collins, Mark Collins, Wayne Collins, Justin Reid and Michael Clark.
