Lenoir – Mrs. Shirley “Nanny” Lee Woodruff Borders, age 73, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born September 12, 1942 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Edford Monroe and Elouise Lorie Coffey Woodruff. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Woodruff and a sister, Shelby Jean Woodruff. “Nanny”, as she was best known, was a member of Crossroads Community Church and a retired floral designer with Rockhaven Gardens Florist. She loved all animals, plants and flowers. She is survived by her husband, Steve “Poppy” Lee Borders; three children, Keith Young of Hudson, Megan Billings and husband Joseph of Lenoir, Melinda Summerlin and husband Randy of Collettsville; three brothers, Dale Woodruff and companion Rebekah Watson of Lenoir; Darrell Coffey and wife Rachael of Hudson, Daniel Coffey and wife Lynn of Lenoir and three grandchildren, Cayden Billings, Emilee Summerlin and Dalton Summerlin. A Graveside Service for “Nanny” will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 20,2016 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend Rick Bowman officiating.
