Shirley Watson Lenoir – Shirley Ann Triplett Watson, age 78, of Lenoir, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:08 PM. Born September 23, 1936 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late Clemmon and Pearl Triplett. Mrs. Watson was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel. She retired from the state and worked at Hudson Middle, Baton Elementary and Davenport Elementary schools. She is survived by her husband, Billy Gene Watson, of Lenoir, to whom she had been married to for over 60 years; two daughters, Sandra Hicks and husband Forrest, of Lenoir; Tina Bryant, of Hickory, and one grandson, Tyler Weston Craig, of Raleigh; and great-granddog, Finn. A celebration of Mrs. Watson’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Whitnel on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Stuart White and Steve Hedgecock officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Whitnel cemetery. She was a friend to many and loved by all. Pallbearers will be Kevin Carswell, Roger Burris, Chris Burris, Dr. Justin Sullivan, Jody McLean, Ralph Triplett and Daniel Goulds.
