Shirley Hall Rice

Hudson, NC – Mrs. Shirley Hall Rice, age 72, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. She was born in Caldwell County on May 18, 1941 to the late Thomas Henry Hall and Grace Prestwood Hall. Mrs. Rice was a member at Gloryland Baptist Church in Hildebran, NC where she played the piano. She had been playing the piano in churches since she was 12 years old. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Reverend Harold Hayes Greene and Ronald Clifton Rice; sisters, Ruby Cardwell and Annie Hall; and brothers, Fred Hall and Arvil Hall. She is survived by her children, Gary Greene and wife, Teresa; daughter, Lisa Greene Pritchard and husband, Ronald ; step-daugher, Ronda Yelton and husband Junior; brothers, James Prestwood, Billy Hall, John (Tommy) Hall; sisters, Myrtle Price, Beatrice Coffey; grandchildren, Derek Hudson, Chelsea Pritchard, Skylar Pritchard, Zachary Bentley, Cole Bentley, Brooke Bentley; step-grandchildren, Amanda Deal, Joshua Yelton; great-grandchildren, Ender Hudson, Moxxi Hudson; step-great-grandchildren, Alexxis Yelton, Anabell Yelton, Parker Deal; and her very special best friends, Mary Lou Church and Janet Sweet. A celebration of Mrs. Rice’s life will be held at East Hudson Baptist Church on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Lex Wright, Reverend Tony Childers, Reverend Grady Burnette and Pastor Eric Hagan officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.T. Coffey, Cole Bentley, Derek Hudson, Raymond McCullough, Allen Deal and Raymond Coffey. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
