Shirley Cox, a loving mama and mawmaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at the age of 83 in Granite Falls. Born on July 17th, 1941, to the late Mildred Kincaid and Clay Boughman.
She treasured time spent with her daughters, Debra (Terry) Anderson of Granite Falls and Brenda (Bo) Altizer and embraced her role as a caring mawmaw to Tiffany (Adam) Wesson of Texas, Heather (Terry) Weaver of Lenoir, Alisabeth (Chris) Logan of Lenoir, Dakota (Kenzie), and James Holloway. Her love extended further to her cherished great-grandchildren, Connor Wesson, Landon Weaver, Maci Hedrick, and Tymberlyn Logan.
Shirley found joy in simple pleasures. An avid enthusiast of puzzle books, she spent many relaxing moments engaged in her favorite pastime. Her frequent gatherings with her sister at the Mayflower created lasting memories, highlighting her love for family and good food.
She is survived by her daughters, her brother, Junior Boughman, and sisters Wanda McConnell and Dorothy Barlow, who all hold the indelible mark of her presence. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Boyce, her son Jerry Cox, and her brothers Harry and Billy Ray Boughman.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the McCreary Cancer Center, Amorem Hospice, and Doctor Hawthorne for their exceptional care and support, which brought comfort to Shirley and her loved ones during her final days.
In accordance with Shirley's wishes, private services will be held at a later date.
Shirley will be remembered for her warm heart, enduring spirit, and the profound legacy of love and devotion she leaves behind. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
