Shirley Sue Burns

Lenoir- Shirley Auton Burns, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on July 14, 1939 to the late Lewis and Leona Auton. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed working in her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Burns; brother, Arvel Auton; sisters, Linda Wagner; Phyllis Carson; Brenda Auton and Peggy Gryder. Shirley is survived by her children, Rhonda Hatton and husband, Kenny; Annette Chester; Bobby Burns; and Penny Postell; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Shirley will be held at Bethel Advent Christian Church on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
