Gamewell– Shelby Jean Winkler King, age 77, of Gamewell, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Kirkwood.Born February 12th, 1938 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late William and Sessie Winkler. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a special aunt, Ola Bullard. Mrs. King was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church and also Sleepy Hollow Bible Baptist Church.She served as a cafeteria lady at West Caldwell High School till she retired to enjoy her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Harold King to whom she had been married to for 51 years; one son, Todd King and wife Melissa; two grandchildren, Hailey and Caleb King; one brother, Ravon Winkler and wife Joyce; two brothers-in-law, Rabon King and wife Ivolee; Bill King and wife Linda; a special cousin, Harlene Tripplet and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. King’s life will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 16th, 2015 at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with the Reverend Stewart White and Lester Honson officiating.Burial will follow in the Flemings Chapel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
