Lenoir – Mrs. Shelby Jean Brown Ellis, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. She was born in Catawba County on October 6, 1936 to the late Roy Brown and Leola Keller Brown. Mrs. Ellis loved her church, Bethel Advent Christian Church, where she was a life-long member. She was also faithful to stay in touch with family and friends by never forgetting to make her phone calls. The family would like to express their thanks to the members of Bethel Advent Christian Church for their many acts of kindness shown to Mrs. Ellis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Boone Ellis and her son, Darrell Marley. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Reid and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Holly Mitchell and Chubby Edwards; Dustin Mitchell; A.J.Reid; Allison Reid Anders and husband, Chris; and six great-grandchildren, including her “Angel”, Keylen Edwards. A celebration of Mrs. Ellis’ life will be held at Bethel Advent Christian Church on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jerry Burnette and Pastor Myron Davis officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service.
