Scottie Jean Bowman Bailey, age 83, of Granite Falls went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 13. She passed away peacefully while at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Scottie was born on May 23, 1937 to the late Erma Bowman Blackstock.She was a devoted member of Granite Falls First Baptist Church and a dedicated health professional, always putting others needs before her own.She was truly born to be a nurse and caregiver.Scottie retired from Frye Hospital after being a labor and delivery nurse for over 40 years where she helped deliver hundreds of local babies.After retiring from nursing, she and her husband Tom opened the Antique Market in downtown Lenoir.They stayed in business for over 15 years. Survivors include two sons, Scott Bailey (partner Ingra Hart) of Granite Falls and Ben Bailey (wife Kris) of Cary; a daughter, Rebecca Bailey Watts (husband Bryan) of Taylorsville; her grandchildren, Alex Bailey (wife Lori) and Mason Bailey; her great grandchildren, Jane, Suzanna and Samuel Bailey; a brother, Larry Crane; cousin, Danny Bowman, among numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. She will be fondly remembered for being a loving, giving and caring Nana, Mom, sister, and friend. Scottie will be missed by all that knew her.She was preceded in death by her Husband of over 60 years, Thomas “Tom” Bailey. There will be a graveside service and celebration of Scottie’s life held at a later time.
