Scott Alan DeMoranville, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was the beloved husband of DJ DeMoranville.
Scott was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and raised in Fairhaven. He was a student of Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School. A master craftsman, he was self-employed managing construction projects, rental properties, and a moving company. He took great pride in remodeling his own home. Repeatedly.
From an early age, Scott displayed an innate talent for working with his hands and an unrivaled work ethic. With a toolbox filled with nearly every DeWalt tool ever made, he could build or fix just about anything. He had a great love of nature and the peace and quiet he found there. He was the youngest of five siblings, each of whom appreciated his sense of humor and love of practical jokes. He left New England for North Carolina in the ‘90s. He made his home there and found DJ, his husband of 18 years and the love of his life. Scott also leaves behind his two dogs, Jackie and Russell, whom he adored, and many, many friends whose lives he greatly impacted with his kindness. Scott was a devoted son to his mother, visiting New England often to see her until her death in 2019. He was incredibly kind and would not hesitate to help anyone in need. His compassionate and gracious nature were a tremendous influence in the lives of his extremely large family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and his three loving God children. He was the personification of a generous spirit.
Scott is survived by his husband, DJ of Lenoir; his father Wilfred and wife Carol of Minnesott Beach, NC; his sister Debra McMullen and her husband Kevin of Fairhaven, MA; two brothers, Mark DeMoranville and Richard DeMoranville and wife Lisa, also of Fairhaven; and two half-brothers, Stephen DeMoranville of Las Vegas, NV; and Christopher DeMoranville of Ohio. He also leaves behind his loving aunts Irene Tetreault, Vickey DeMello, and Donna McCaffery; as well as his uncles Bill McCaffery, and Lucien Tetreault.
He was predeceased by his mother, Claire Tetreault and his stepfather, Theodore Tetreault; brother J.D. DeMoranville; nephews Scott McMullen and Richard DeMoranville, Jr.; nieces Hope DeMoranville and Cali McMullen. He was also predeceased by Julie, his Jack Russell terrier who was the other love of his life.
