Sarah Jewell Nelson

Lenoir– Sarah Nelson, age 89, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born December 31, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents Royal Dixon Watson and Bessie Lee Bryant. She was also preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Graham Nelson. She also had one sister Ruby Bumgarner and one brother R.D. Watson who preceded her in death also. She is survived by her children Darrell Nelson and wife JoAnne, Dennis Nelson and wife Debbie, and Terry Nelson and wife Beth. The special joys of her life were her grandchildren Kristy Joplin, Bryon Nelson and Carli Nelson. She also had two great-grandchildren J.R. Joplin and Reuben Joplin. She is also survived by two sisters Opal Crotts and Jean Price and one brother Ned Watson. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Hudson. A celebration of Mrs. Nelson’s life will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church at 3:00 PM. Reverend Ron Burgett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM.
