Sarah Lail

Sarah Bumgarner Lail, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Trinity Village in Hickory. She was born in Bum Town, Caldwell County on September 18, 1934 to the late Jeff Bumgarner and Pearl Cannon Bumgarner.

Sarah was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed visits with friends and family, making sure they had plenty to eat and could be found regularly dusting and cleaning her house. Listening to gospel music, particularly the Gaither Family, gave her great joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Lail and nine brothers.

Sarah is survived by her sons, Randy Lail and wife, Judy; Greg Lail and wife, Patty; brother, Roger Bumgarner; grandsons, Cole Hudgens and wife, Natalie; Barrett Lail and wife, Elizabeth; Jacob Lail and wife, Lindy; Matthew Lail and wife, Casey; great-grandchildren, Chapel and Hunter Hudgens; Perry Lail; Lembry Lail and Sawyer Lail; and numerous other family members.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held at Center Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 12:30 P.M. with Pastor Nathan Key officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:15 prior to the service.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Center Grove Baptist Church, 3176 Deal Mill Road, Hudson, NC  28638.
