Sandra Mcdonald Smith

Sandra McDonald Smith, age 70, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at her residence.She was born September 8, 1948 to the late Vaughn and Dorothy McDonald.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Smith, Jr. Sandra served the citizens of Caldwell County as a paramedic for over 28 years and retired as a Lieutenant.Her desire to help other people carried over to her love of animals.She was avid in the rescuing of animals in need and a strong supporter of police and military working dogs.Her greatest passion of all was her four grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Survivors include a son, Jonathan Smith and wife Ana; daughter Jackie Kerley and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Ranger Smith, Noah Smith, Mackenzie Smith, and Kaleb Kerley; the father of her children, Jerry Smith and wife Tula; brothers, Eugene McDonald and wife Brenda and Kenneth McDonald; and sister, Priscilla Crotts and husband Raymond. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Evans Funeral Service Chapel conducted by Pastor Greg Snider.The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.Interment will immediately follow the service at Clarks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
