Samuel James Shell, age 78, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare Hospital.Born March 9, 1941 in Caldwell County.Son of Samuel Edward Shell and Josephine Helton Michaux.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Francene Shell, brothers Robert Shell and Arther June Harshaw; and son, Kevin Shell. He was a member of Harper’s UM Church for many years/now attends Highway to Hedges Ministry. Survivors include five daughters, Lisa Norwood of Lenoir, Pam Corpening of Newport News, VA, Alison (Jimmy) Benjamin of Lenoir, Lana Norwood of Lenoir, Lynn (Harlen) Dula of Charlotte; four sons, Tracy (Trish) Shell of Richmond, VA, Dennis Patterson of Lenoir, James (Reisha) Shell of Lenoir, Craig (Susan) Shell of Lenoir; sisters, Sallie Shell of Lenoir, Betty (Rock) Mack of Centerville, OH, Josephine Shell, Lanetta Johnson, Annette Johnson, MaryJo Johnson, all of Middletown, OH; two brothers, Michael Shell of Columbus, OHand Elmer Johnson, Jr. of Middletown, OH; special aunts and uncle, Robin Anderson, Libby Helton, and Theodore Helton; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 3:00 pm at The Life Center conducted by Rev. James Wilfong and Rev. Terry Hunt.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 pm at the church.Interment will follow the service at Harpertown Cemetery.
