Sammy Eugene Dula

Sammy Eugene Dula, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was born in Caldwell County on August 13, 1941 to the late Grover and Clara Hatton Dula. He was married to Gail Witherspoon Dula of the home for 61 years.

Sam was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lenoir. Sam retired from HBF as a maintenance technician, never missing a day of work in 25 years.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Dula, Roger Dula and his sister, Evelyn Goble.

In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his children, Cathy, Mark and Steve; brother, Joe; sister, Debbie; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Wait, Pastor Cameron Dula and Pastor Mark Dula officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
