Sabra Riggs Melton

Lenoir – Mrs. Sabra Riggs Melton, age 92, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Trinity Ridge. She was born in Caldwell County on January 13, 1924 to the late John Riggs and Charlotte Triplett Riggs. Mrs. Melton was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steele Frazier Melton, Jr.; brothers, Z.O., Ned, John, Bill and Bassil Riggs; and her sister, Gwyndolyn Frye. Mrs. Melton is survived by her children, Roger Melton and wife, Carolyn; Linda Craig and husband, Larry; and Kay Goodin and husband, Tom; sisters, Mary Gaye Hickman and Peggy Jean Wilson and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Kirk Melton; Kevin Melton and Mollie Throneburg; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. A celebration of Mrs. Melton’s life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Uiyeon Kim officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Seehorn Street NE, Lenoir, NC 28645.
