Ruth Rorrer

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Ruth Rorrer, age 86, loving wife and mother, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born March 25, 1922 in Saxon, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Blaine Stewart and Pink McGinnis Stewart Halliwell and wife of the late Wilmer Lee Rorrer. Mrs. Rorrer was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Red Hats and was a Pink Lady volunteer with the Veteran?s Hospital. She is survived by her son, Danny Ray Pilley and wife Kay of Huntersville; one brother, Donald Blain Stewart and wife Georgia of Greensboro; one step-sister, Mary Elizabeth Kasuba of Princewick, WV; one step-brother, Roger Dale Halliwell of Prosperity, WV; sisters-in-law Gail Stewart, Norma Stewart, and Lena Stewart: 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey Pilley, Andrea Paxton; Brad Pilley and Danielle Tomczyk and 6 great-grandchildren, Zach Pilley, Sydney Tomczyk, Haley Pilley, Ashleigh Pilley, Karisa Hilley and Ronald Hilley and many loving nieces and nephews. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Pilley; three brothers, Dewey Gene Stewart, Elery Glenn Stewart, William Doff Stewart and one sister, Beulah Stewart. A celebration of Mrs. Rorrer?s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Braswell and Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall of Lower Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Ashton Barlow, Marvin Lovins, Joe Cook, Robert Wilson, Baxter Harmon and Randy Greene. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, Vernon Henderson, June Smith, Everett Barlow, Grace Caudle and Jan Pennell.
