Ruth Shew Harrison

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Ruth Helen Shew Harrison, age 72, of Lenoir, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home. Born February 14, 1941 in Wilkes County, Ruth was a daughter of the late Paul and Dossie Johnson Shew. Ruth worked as a seamstress for many years. Ruth loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and gardening. She caught many flounder on her trips to Oak Island. She also loved reading, cooking, and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Lorance Harrison of the Home; two daughters, Lorraine Karimi, husband Reza, of Granite Falls, and Susan Hartley, husband Mickey, of Hudson; seven sisters, Wilene Icenhour, Betty Fair, Vernell Haigler, Doris Day, Brenda Price, Judy Ayers and Karen Cannon; four brothers, Hubert Shew, Claude Shew, Clyde Shew and Mike Shew; four grandchildren, Nichole Annas, husband David, Jordan Karimi, Nicholas Karimi and Anthony Karimi; one great grandson, Tobias Annas; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
