Ruth Marie Gragg

Ruth Marie Gragg, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Ruth was born on June 25, 1935, to the late Lawrence and Elsie Huffman.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her twin sister, Ruby Yount; brother, LJ Huffman Jr.; brother in laws, Keith Yount, Roy Self; son in law, Gregg Mills; and nephew, Joshua Self.

Those left to cherish Ruth’s memory are her husband of 50 years, her soul mate and her sole caretaker, Randy Gragg; daughters; Penny Carpenter, Marisa Ford (Stan); grandchildren, Torie (Tim), Garrett (Virginia), Devin; seven great grandchildren; sister, Trudy Self, numerous other family and friends, and her beloved dog, Mick.

Ruth was secretary and treasurer at Globe Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord, was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and problem solver. She loved the outdoors and flowers.  Ruth was an outgoing person who never met a stranger.  Ruth and Randy ran the Double R Café on Virginia Street in Lenoir.  They made a lot of lasting relationships at the Double R Café.

A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Billy Norris officiating.  The family will receive friends prior from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Globe Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Garrett Ford, Devin Ford, Wesley Combs, Matthew Combs, Tim Combs, and Jordan Gragg.

In addition to flowers, the family respectfully request donations be made to Amorem High Country Hospice in honor of Ruth.
