Lenoir – Mrs. Ruby Hensley Taylor, age 93, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.Born November 4, 1920 in McDowell County, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Jerry Alonzo and Louise Easter Harris Hensley and the wife of the late Willie Howard Taylor. Known as “Ms. Ruby”, she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hudson where she was very active in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.She had served as a volunteer in the after school tutoring program. As an avid seamstress, she produced handmade linens that touched the lives of the most needy and the most affluent.“Ms. Ruby” was also a wonderful gardener.She will always be remembered as a loving, active, generous and kind Christian neighbor. Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Ray Hensley and 3 sisters, Maggie Martin, Emma Walden and Kate Hensley. She is survived by two daughters, Allene Jones of Lenoir; Linda Hedden and husband Bill of Atlanta; 1 son, Billy Joe Taylor and wife Wanda Lee Taylor of Lenoir; 2 sisters, Rosanne Earley of Daytona Beach, FL; Geraldine Rudisill of Hickory; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Hedden Estes and husband Morris of Atlanta;Kelly Pritchard and husband Steve of Lenoir; Nicole Dishman of Lenoir; Eric Triplett and wife Jordan of Granite Falls; 10 great-grandchildren, Jenny Lynne Pritchard; Julia & Ashlee Estes; Alyssa, Autumn, Aureliah & Jonathan Triplett; Brandon, Sabrina & Samantha Dishman and 2 special young ladies who also called her “Grandma”, Autumn & Abby.She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of “Ms. Ruby’s” life will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Hudson with Reverend Mack Jarvis and Reverend Gary James officiating.Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Hudson. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
