Ruby Swanson

Lenoir –Ruby Walsh Swanson, passed away January 3, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson. Born August 3, 1929 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Edward and Belva McNeil Walsh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, B.H. Swanson, Jr. and a son, Jeff G. Swanson; two brothers, Mack E. Walsh and Benny M. Walsh, three sisters, Myrtle W. Cannon, Jewel W. Allen, and Vondell W. McNiel. Ruby and B.H.were owners of the Lenoir Trading Post until he retired. She was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church, and loved her church family and friends. Ruby was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Debbie) Swanson Marley and husband, Boyd; grandchildren, Heather Swanson, Holly Swanson and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda W. Russell and husband, Paul of Hickory and Garden City, SC; Barbara W. Hollar of Maiden; Gail W. Caldwell and husband, Roger ; Wanda W. Ashley and husband, Larry of Lenoir; Martha Sue (Susie) Stimson and husband, Doug of Arden, NC; and brother-in-law, Odell McNiel of Hickory; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
