Ruby Rea Hodges

Hudson, NC- Mrs. Ruby Rea Welch Hodges, age 101, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born in Wilkes County on April 10, 1911 to the late G.W. Welch and Ida Luther Welch. She was married to the late Ed Hodges. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, eight brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Welch Hodges and wife, Merita Melton Hodges of Hudson; grandson, Brian Younce; granddaughters, Lori Davis and Melissa (Lisa) High; grandchildren, Tyler Younce, Nick Davis, Jordan Port and Madison Port. A celebration of Mrs. Hodges’ life will take place at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ferguson on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Robert Setzer and Pastor Sherrill Wellborn officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Brian Younce, Mike Davis, Nick Davis, Larry High, Jordan Port, and John Shepherd. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:30 until 8:00 PM.
