Ruby Alice Hicks

Mrs. Ruby Hicks, age 91, of Granite Falls passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born March 27, 1927 in Watauga county, Ruby was a daughter of the late Monroe and Mary Harmon.Ruby enjoyed working in her yard, doing puzzles and knitting.She was a retired furniture worker.She attended Faith Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Hicks; three sons, Kenneth Hicks, Gary Hicks and Calvin Hicks; a daughter, Rita Sue Walker; she is also preceded by numerous siblings. Survivors include her children, James Hicks (wife Nina) of Whitnel, Wanda Jones of Hickory, Ted Hicks (wife Joyce) of Valdese, Louise Welch (husband Harold) of Maryville, TN, Lisa Hicks of Granite Falls, Roger Hicks (wife Shelia) of Lenoir and Betty Ayres (husband Ben) of Connelly Springs; she is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, 42 great great grandchildren, and 1 great greatgreat grandchild and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Jerry Lingerfelt and Pastor Derrick Lingerfelt officiating.Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
