Ruby Gattis

Mrs. Ruby Markham Gattis, age 92, formerly of Kure Beach, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Camelot Manor in Lenoir. Mrs. Gattis was a daughter of the late Charles and Myra Markham. She was Methodist by faith and was retired from Sears, where she had worked for many years as the women?s merchandise manager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Watson Gattis, and a daughter and son- in- law, Dorothy and Richard Perry Pierce Jr. Surviving are two grandsons, Richard Perry Pierce III and his wife Betsy of Lenoir, and Michael Kent Pierce and his wife Ann of Wilmington, NC; a granddaughter, Suzanne Lee Pierce of Raleigh; Four great grandsons, Richard Perry Pierce IV and Phillip Alexander Pierce of Lenoir, and Michael Kent Pierce Jr. and Christopher Allen Pierce of Wilmington. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 2 o?clock PM at the Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials being made to the Community Center of Kure Beach c/o Town of Kure Beach,117 Settlers Lane, Kure Beach, NCÂ 28449.
