Ruby Elder

Ruby Elder Lenoir – Mrs. Ruby Davis Elder, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on January 31, 1936 to the late Lum Davis and Blanche Story Davis. She was married to Stanley Elder of the residence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mae D. Carroll, Opal D. Greene, Jean D. Eller and Shirley D. Greene. Other than her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Sumlin Gentry and husband, Greg; son, Dennis Sumlin; step-daughter, Pamela E. Macik and husband, John of Chicago; step-son, Randy Elder and wife, Jackie of Chicago; grandchildren, Thomas Faw and wife, Felicia; Daniel Faw and wife, Misty; and Chucky Sumlin; brother, Wayne Davis and wife, Mickie; sisters, Carolyn D. Waters of Dallas, TX; Becky D. Vann and husband, Randy of Rocky Mount, NC; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Elder’s life will be held at Setzer’s Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Daniel Trantham and Pastor Ken Byerly officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
