Ruby Crisp

Mrs. Ruby Gragg Crisp, age 91, of Lenoir passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born February 15, 1931 in Avery County, Ruby was a daughter of the late Windom and Viney Coffey Gragg.Ruby was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Whitnel.She worked at Bernhardt Furniture and retired after 30 years of service.She enjoyed working in her yard and baking.One of the things she’ll be most remembered for will be her coconut cakes.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burns Crisp; three sisters, Omie Coffey, Thelma Caldwell and Nelda Greene; a nephew, Austin Roberts. Survivors include four sisters, Mildred Ivey, Ruth Houston, Carolyn Poteat, and Janice Smith; a brother, Gene Gragg; Felisha Smith, who she loved and cared for like a daughter; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved like children. A graveside celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 3:30 PM at the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir with Pastor Stuart White and Pastor Steve Hedgecock officiating.
