Rowena Church

Ms. Rowena Potter Church, age 80, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born October 7, 1937 in Carter county, Tennessee, Rowena was raised by her Godparents, the late Sara Ann and Peter Hamilton Potter.She was a past president of the Handicap Organization of Women.She was Baptist by faith.She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she met.In addition to her Godparents, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Trivette; her father, John Rash; Sara Ann Potter; a brother, Bo Trivette. Survivors include her two sons, Lionel Wade Church and Brian Keith Church; a grandson, Matthew David Church (wife Ashleigh); a great granddaughter, Ansleigh Church; her three sisters, Diane Garland, Rose Mowrey and Dawn Peters; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Rowena’s life will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 3:00 PM with Pastor Greg Zolninger officiating.
