Robert Woodring, age 85, of Lenoir joined his Savior Jesus Christ and loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, October 29.He was born to the late Joshua McCoy & Nealie Mae Greene Woodring in Meat Camp in Watauga County on March 22, 1929. He was a truck driver for several companies and loved to listen to bluegrass gospel music.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel and sang in the choir while he was able. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Lorene Baker Woodring and his second wife of 19 years, Ruby Cannon Clark Woodring, seven sisters Blanche Miller, Pearl Gragg, Thelma Miller, Lucy Payne, Lessa Woodring, VeraLee Davis, Josephine Rice, one brother Ralph Woodring, a grandson Gary Todd Teague and a step-son Larry Wayne Clark. Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Bobby and wife Lori Woodring of the Oakhill Community, three daughters Gay W and husband Rev Gary Teague of Granite Falls, Joy W and husband Roy Cole of the Gamewell Community, Hope W and husband Dan Bare of West Jefferson.Grandchildren, Iraand wife Sarah Woodring of Michigan, Amanda W Marley and husband, Chris of Hickory,Justin and wife Jessica Moore of Concord, Jordan Bare, Haley Bare and Caroline Bare of West Jefferson,four step-sons, Robert and wife Teresa Clark, Gary Clark, Tim and wife Lynn Clark, and Scott and wife Shirley Clark all of Lenoir.Several great grandchildren, step grandchildren, great step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services celebrating Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Whitnel, with Rev. Stuart White and Rev. Steve Hedgecock officiating.The family will receive friends from 9:45am until 11:00 am prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Whitnel that Robert attended. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the Shaire Center staff for their care of Robert for the past three and a half years and to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.
