Robert Dennis Setzer

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Robert Dennis Setzer, Sr., age 78, of Lenoir, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born October 16, 1930 in Caldwell County, Mr. Setzer was a son of the late Marshall William and Ida Jane Hartley Setzer and the husband of Sandra Murphy Setzer of the home. Mr. Setzer had worked for Southeastern Adhesives, Barringer Oil Company and was owner/operator of Setzer Leasing Company. He retired in 1996 as a transport driver with Beall Oil Company. Mr. Setzer was a member of Ambassador Baptist Church where he was a member of the John and Romans Scripture Ministry and had served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Hibriten Lodge #262 and the Grand York Rites of Lenoir. Other than his parents, Mr. Setzer is preceded in death by 5 brothers, Hubert Setzer, Herman Setzer, Ernest Setzer, Bealer Setzer and Claudie Setzer. Surviving other than his wife are two sons, Pastor Robert D. Setzer, Jr. and wife Audrey of Lenoir; Doug Setzer and wife Vickie of Wilkesboro; 1 brother, Franklin D. Setzer and wife Doris of Lenoir; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Hamby and husband Coleman of Hudson; Rebecca Davis and husband Shawn of Lenoir; Stephen Setzer of Honduras and 4 great-grandchildren, Zacary and Nicolas Hamby of Hudson and Savanna and Sophia Davis of Lenoir and his canine friend, Coco. A celebration of Mr. Setzer?s life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Ambassador Baptist Church with Pastor Robert D. Setzer, Jr. and Pastor Shawn Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Ambassador Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Lonnie Huff, Arnold Arrowood, Coleman Hamby, Mike Abernethy, Bryan Coffey and Welch Hodges. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262.
