Lenoir, NC- Mr. Robert C. Perkins, age 81, of Lenoir, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Asheville Specialty Hospital. Born June 8, 1928 in Burke County, he was the son of the late R.C. and Julia Hilliard Perkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia George and Agnes Shrecengost. Mr. Perkins was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School and Lees-McRae College, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from North Carolina Forest Service as District Ranger and was an active member at Hartland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher; as well as many other committees. Robert loved his church and family and was a loving friend to many. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his garden. His generosity was bountiful. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Catherine S. Perkins, of the home; daughters, Debbie P. Hood and husband John; Cindy P. Younce and husband Mark and Mary P. Baker and husband Julian, all of Lenoir; Grandchildren, Chris Greene, Ashely Greene, Mary Catherine Younce,, Jacob Younce and Elizabeth Baker; Great-Grandchildren, Justin Clark and Karlie Byrd. He is also survived by siblings, two brothers, Frank Perkins and Richard Perkins, both of Morganton and a sister, Mariana Sparks of Gastonia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Perkins? life will be held 2:30 Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Hartland Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Parker and Reverend Burl Sain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:30 PM, prior to the service at Hartland Baptist Church.
