Robert Mccall

Robert E. McCall, age 72, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born In Caldwell County to the late James Avery McCall, Sr. and Orpha Haas McCall. Robert was retired from the furniture industry as a cloth cutter. He graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1963 where he received all-county conference in Basketball, Baseball and Football. He played legion ball and managed the Lenoir C.B. Red Sox semi-pro baseball team. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during his time of service. He was a Christian by faith and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, James McCall, Jr.; three sisters, Josephine Baker, Grace Roberts and Dorothy Gail McCall; and a son in law, Clay Watson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Debbie whom he shared 45 years of marriage; his son, James McCall (wife Karla) of Granite Falls; his daughter, Cristal Helton (husband Scott) of Lenoir; his sisters, Bonnie Turnmire of Granite Falls, Judy Honeycutt of Burnsville; a brother, Charles McCall (wife Judy). He was a loving grandfather to Dylan Watson, Taylore Crump, Zack Helton, Cade Watson, Cole McCall, Josh McCall and Derek Helton; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lenoir Health Care, Caldwell Memorial and Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Evans Funeral Service. A private memorial service for Robert will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
