Robert Alfred Jones

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Robert “Bob” Alfred Jones, age 84, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born September 29, 1928 in Hickory, NC, Bob was a son of the late Ivey Ray and Minnie Louise Benfield Jones. Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a travel agent for many years and had spent time traveling all over the world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Harvey Jones and Hershel “Cub” Jones; one sister, Jewel Jones Coffield; a nephew, Robert Coffield; and his faithful pet of 17 years, Tedi. Survivors include a brother, Wabe Jones, wife Hilda of Valdese; three nephews, Gary Jones, wife Gwen, of Valdese, Hershel “Kit” Jones, Jr. of Morganton and Harvey Jones, wife Debbie, of Valdese; two nieces, Susan Jones, and Kathy Wellman both of Valdese; three great nieces, Lisa Norris, husband Marty, of Lenoir, Tracy Franklin, husband Scott, of Shallotte, NC, and Missy Jones of Granite Falls; a great nephew, Alan Jones of Valdese; and a great niece, Lindsay Coffield of Valdese. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Bollinger’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Chaplain Nancy Campbell officiating.
