Lenoir – Mr. Robert “Rob” Edward Taylor, 84, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.Born November 17, 1930 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late James Edward and Essie Mae Shehan Taylor and the husband of Vivian Walsh Taylor. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Janette Winecoff Taylor; 1 son, Jim Taylor; and 5 siblings, Thelma Haas, Velma Everhardt, Margaret Whittington, Betty Wright and Billie Taylor. Rob was a graduate of Hudson High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College.He had served in the United States Air Force and retired from the Caldwell County School System after teaching over 32 years. He was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed gun making, jewelry making and all kinds of woodwork.He loved collecting antique tools and gardening. Surviving other than his wife Vivian are four children, Jane Black and husband John of Granite Falls; Bob Taylor and wife Teresa of Harrisburg; Jean Lael and husband Scott of Newton; June Taylor of Lenoir; one daughter-in-law, Teressa Taylor of Hudson; two step-children, Ron Curlee of Greensboro and Carma Landis of Hudson.He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Martin and husband Steve of Hickory; Ann Smith and husband Roz of Hudson and two grandchildren, James Taylor, Sara Taylor and one step-grandchild, Lizzie Landis.He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. A celebration of Rob’s life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Marietta Smith officiating.Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, January 12, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be:Chuck Triplett, Rick Triplett, Keith Scruggs, Neal Martin, Danny Martin, Ron Curlee, Roz Smith and Rozzy Smith.
