Lenoir – Reverend Robert Ralph Curtis began his ministry at the age of 30, including missionary outreach in Mexico and is the Pastor of Valmead Community Church since 1977. He was a WW II US Army Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. He was a wonderful man of God who will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by the late Ralph and Velma Curtis, wife Mary Curtis, son Johnny Curtis with surviving wife Joyce Curtis, also brothers John Starnes, Alfred Curtis, and Bill Curtis, grandson Christopher Curtis and granddaughter Tammy Kinyoun. He is survived by a sister Elizabeth Grinarml and six sons Bobby Curtis and wife Peggy of Chardin, OH, Richard Curtis, wife Teresa of Warsaw, KY, Tony Curtis, wife Debbie of Granite Falls, NC, Dan Curtis of New Braunfels, TX, Kevin Curtis, wife Annette of Thompson , OH, Paul Curtis of Corpus Christi, TX. Four daughters Mary Ann Absher of Lenoir, Linda Durham and husband Hayden of Roaring River, NC, Sarah Abargel of Lenoir and Brenda Diane Couch of Lenoir, NC. 27 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren, and 23 great-great- grand children. There will be a celebration of his life in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 12:30 PM with Reverend Scott Smith of Lighthouse Church in Lenoir and Reverend Bill Younce from Elizabethton, TN officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be his sons and honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Terry Gilbert, Robert Curtis, Jeff Curtis Cody Curtis, Hunter Curtis, Jonah Couch, and John Anthony Harwell. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Valmead Community Church, 222 Elizabeth St NW, Lenoir NC 28645.
