Robert Chambers

Lenoir – Robert William Chambers, age 71, passed away on July 4, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center.He was born in Bloomington, IN on October 29, 1943 to the late William Claude Chambers and Mary White Chambers. Robert was an avid golfer and Nascar fan but he also enjoyed watching any sport on TV as well as gardening.After attending General Motors Institute and with a background in engineering and accounting, Mr. Chambers worked multiple fulfilling jobs in his career.He worked at Link Belt, Indianapolis, IN for 17 years, Butler Polymet (Cambridge), Lenoir for 14 years.He also worked for Chemical Coatings in Hudson for 5 years before deciding to retire. Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Linda Chambers as well as his sons; Robert Chambers II, Rockford, MI and wife, Lissa; Zachary Chambers, Raleigh, NC and wife, Blythe; SSgt. William Chambers, USAF, Lajes Field, Portugal and wife Elizabeth; his granddaughter, Bethany Chambers, Rockford, MI; his sister, Twanatte Branham, New Palestine, IN and husband, Chet; his sisters-in-law, Kathi Billings, Lenoir and husband, Daniel, Karla Harris, Avon, IN and husband, Mark.Robert also has several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A celebration of Mr. Chambers’ life will be at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM.Reverend Steve Butler will be officiating.
