Robert. C. Braswell, Jr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, at his home in Hudson.Born on October 31, 1923, in Gastonia, NC, Mr. Braswell was the son of the late Robert C. Braswell, Sr., and Lola Smart Braswell.He was a resident of Hudson for over 65 years. A decorated United States Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Braswell served during the Second Infantry Division invasion of Normandy Beach and during the Battle of the Bulge.He was a retired used car dealer in Whitnel who was known for his friendliness and for his dry wit. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Faye Miller Braswell; his sons, Eddie L. Braswell and Neil K. Braswell; and his two sisters, Louise Crouch and Juanita Oakes.Surviving Mr. Braswell are his step-daughter, Pam Walker of Hudson; grandsons, Justin Walker of Hudson; Jody Braswell of Fort Myers, FL; Toby Miller of Sevierville, TN; Chad Braswell of Hudson; Kristy Kimberly of Orlando, FL; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Braswell will be held at Evans Funeral Home and Crematory of Lenoir at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, with Pastor Daniel Buchanan officiating.The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir with Military Honors provided by the NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
