Ricky B. Lyda

Granite Falls, NC- Mr. Ricky Buford Lyda, age 64, of Granite Falls, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.Born July 9, 1950 in Caldwell County, Mr. Lyda was a son of the late Herbert and Hilda Hensley Lyda. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Lyda; 1 brother, Randy Garland and 2 sisters, Janice Martin and Lisa Triplett. Mr. Lyda was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and enjoyed deer hunting. Survivors include his 5 children, Loretta Helton and husband Jerry of Granite Falls; Ricky Lyda of Hickory; Jason Lyda and Scott Lyda, both of Granite Falls; Ned Suddreth and wife Lori of Hildebran; 3 sisters, Rita Miller, Sharon Winebarger and Tammy Bennett, all of Boone; 4 brothers, J.D. Lyda and Lentz Lyda and wifeAudrey, both of Granite Falls; Robert Foster of Damascus, VA; Josh Triplett of Greenville, TN; a special friend and mother to his 3 youngest children, Linda Lyda of Granite Falls; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The family will be celebrating the life of Mr. Lyda 2:30 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Reverend Eric Lane officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service at the church.
