Richard Melvin Yount

Lenoir, NC- Reverend Richard Melvin ?Tater? Yount, age 58, of Lenoir, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born June 14, 1949 in Valdese, Rev. Yount was a son of the late Adrian Edgar and Colene Mae Craig Yount. Reverend Yount has served as pastor or interim pastor at: Liberty Baptist Church in Valmead, Canaan Baptist Church in Icard, Cajah's Mountain Baptist Church, Livingston Memorial Baptist Church and Setzer Gap Presbyterian Church. He also served as a missionary in the Philippines. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Ann Storie Yount; his daughter, Christy Stevens and husband Brian of Lenoir; his son, Jason Edgar Yount of the home; 4 sisters, Patsy Clark, Gail Younce and Janice Gammon all of Granite Falls, Kathy Williams of Lenoir; one brother, Reverend Jerry Yount of Granite Falls; one granddaughter, Emilee Danielle Stevens of Lenoir and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Reverend Yount?s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Cajah's Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Woody, Reverend Daniel Buchanan and Reverend Randy Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Cajah's Mountain Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Christy and Brian Stevens, 3921 Leah Belle Lane, Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Terry Clark, Jr., Jeffrey Younce, Lee Gammon, Daniel Williams and Michael Yount. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dustin Williams, David Yount, Samuel Yount and Patrick Clark.
