Lenoir, NC- Mr. Richard Wilson Pipes, age 56, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at his home. Born September 13, 1955 in Caldwell County, Richard was a son of the late Ted Channing Pipes, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne Wilson Pipes. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Elizabeth Pipes. Richard was a member of Union Baptist Church and owner/operator of Richard Pipes Construction. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fisherman and hunter and a longtime member of the Bell Bass Club. Richard was a 1973 graduate of Hibriten High School. Richard was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered by his smile. Richard is survived by his wife, Susan Mullinax Pipes, his daughter, Hannah Pipes of Lincolnton, his son, Hunter Pipes of the home and brother, Ted Channing “Chan†Pipes, Jr. of West Jefferson along with many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.  A celebration of Richard’s life will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Myron Davis officiating. A private burial will take place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:30 PM, prior to the service at Union Baptist Church.
