Mr. Richard Lenoir Jaynes, age 84, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born February 4, 1935 in Caldwell County, Richard was a son of the late Bynum and Myra Gray Jaynes.Richard was a veteran of the United States Army.He worked as a truck driver for many years.Richard was a member of the Caldwell County Bee Keepers Association.He was also a mason with the Lenoir Chapter and a life member of the American Border Collie Association.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Carswell Jaynes; his siblings, Valley Jaynes Martin, Hal Jaynes, Hesse Jaynes Knupp, Thomas Jaynes, Helen Jaynes Ball, Anita Jaynes McMaster, Kathryn Jaynes, John Jaynes, Sr., Kenneth Jaynes. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Mary Sue Jaynes; a daughter, Leeanne Whisnant; two siblings, Bobbie Jaynes Curtis and Danny Jaynes; two grandchildren, Jonathan Whisnant and Jessica Whisnant; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 4:00 PM at the Kings Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Goode and Pastor Gary Waters officiating.Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
