Richard Stewart Harmon, “Goose”,61, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on November 20, 1963, to the late Vance Harmon and Jo Alice Price Harmon.
Goose was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to many because he never met a stranger. He began his work career at 17 with Broyhill Furniture and spent the next 44 years as a master upholsterer. His work family at Stone and Leigh were part of his extended family.He enjoyed coaching for many years, grilling and cooking with his wife, Lori, and trout fishing. There wasn’t a sport that he didn’t enjoy watching, particularly, the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Tar Heels. His dog, Bella, was his constant companion and friend.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lori Keaton Harmon, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Craig Hall; and his brother, Kenneth Price.
Goose is survived by his son, Scott Harmon, wife, Samantha; daughters, Heather Harmon and fiancé, Brad Richards; Jenny Shatley and husband, Bradley Stillwell; grandchildren, Jordan Hall and Andrea; Jailee Hall and Isaiah; Ashton Minton; Tyler Minton; Brianna Harmon; Mason Harmon; Adisyn Richards; Kylee Harmon; great-grandson Kamden Patton; and expecting another in July; brother’s Tommy Price; W.R. Price; Frankie Price; sister, Linda Barlow; and numerous other family members and friends.
There will be a gathering of friends to celebrate Goose’s life at Setzer’s Gap Church, 2625 Collettsville Road, Lenoir, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. There will be a brief time of reflection following this for those that would like to share a special memory of Goose.
