Richard Smith Gilliland

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Richard Smith Gilliland, age 73, of Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home. Born November 10, 1940 in Caldwell County, Richard was a son of the late Carlos and Bonnie Smith Gilliland. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He had a love for politics and was a big supporter of the American Cancer Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Roseanne Gilliland. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Judy Mikeal Gilliland; a daughter, Erin Michelle Gilliland; a granddaughter, Emily Michelle Creger; a sister and brother in law, Laura Elizabeth and Tony Lingle; a nephew, Dr. Kevin Lingle, wife Kristin; a great nephew, Jack Lingle; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Uiyeon Kim, Rev. John Herold and Rev. Joe Parker officiating.
