Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Rhonda Perry Abernethy, age 61, of Lenoir, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Gateway Nursing Center of Lenoir. Born December 30, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN, Mrs. Abernethy was a daughter of the late Ronald Harold Perry and Belle Gilbreath Perry Kihm. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband, Steve Abernethy of the home; two daughters, Jan Hightower and husband Tony of Chattanooga, TN; Renee Arnette and husband John of Lenoir; three step-sons, Mike Abernethy and wife Dreama of Lenoir; Barry Abernethy and wife Amy of Granite Falls; Van Abernethy and wife Vickie of Newton; two sisters, Patricia Holland and husband Tony of Chattanooga, TN; Susan Smith of Oklahoma City, OK and 6 grandchildren; April, Terrance, Alan, Mark, Abby and Miranda. A celebration of Mrs. Abernethy?s life will be held 3:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2008 at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Leonard Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 8:30 PM at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir and at other times at 317 Stonewall Avenue in Lenoir.
