Rena Eller Waters

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Rena Eller Waters, age 80, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born October 18, 1935 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Tyra Benjamin Franklin and Ida Isabelle Laws Eller.She is preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Rhonda Eller , and a brother-in-law, James Stevens. Mrs. Waters was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. She was co-owner/operator of The Hut Restaurant & Backdoor Lounge in Hudson. Her work career spanned 54 years and included long tenures as customer service representative with Anderson Truck Lines, teacher’s assistant at Hudson Elementary School, loan representative with the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation (in Minnesota), and weekend day care teacher at the Hickory Play School. In retirement she invested 8 years as an active volunteer at Baton Elementary School and The Wig Bank. She was a hard worker, never having any idle time. She loved to cook, shop, teach children and have fun with her family and friends. She is survived by her former husband and lifelong companion, Jerry Waters of Lenoir; two children, Brett Waters and wife Naomi of Winston-Salem; Beth Johnson and husband Gary of Lenoir; two sisters, Elreta Eaton and husband Claude of Lenoir; Phyllis Stevens of Lenoir and two grandchildren, Macy and Ally Johnson both of Lenoir, and Macy's finace' Jonathan Greene of Lenoir. Three nephews Scott Keller, Chad Keller, and Todd Phillips all of Lenoir, and Gracie Phillips Greene of Lenoir, and Angela Waters Anderson of Dallas, Texas. A celebration of Mrs. Waters’ life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Lenoir with Reverend Josh Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
