Rebecca Laney Saunders

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Rebecca ?Becky? Laney Saunders, age 72, of Lenoir, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family. Born January 15, 1936 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Saunders was a daughter of the late Ralph J. and Wilma Beach Laney and the wife of the late Robert L. ?Bob? Saunders. Mrs. Saunders was a homemaker and a faithful member of Lower Creek Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir and was a greeter for many years. She served on many committees and loved her Sunday school class. She enjoyed working as a receptionist with her daughter and son-in-law at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir.  She is survived by her son, James Douglas ?Doug? Saunders and wife Kathy of Lenoir; her daughter, Lisa Saunders Evans and husband Chris of Lenoir; her sister, Dorothy ?Dot? Laney Brandon and husband Carl of Lenoir; three grandchildren; Christa Leigh Saunders of Lenoir; Jonathan ?Jon? Douglas Thompson of High Point and Elizabeth ?Liz? Rebekah Evans of Lenoir.  A celebration of Becky?s life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 12, 2008 in Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Mike Cook, Baxter Harmon, Billy Foutz, Hans Craig, Jon Younce, Tim Barlow, Gary Bentley and Billy Hartley. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Gleaner?s Sunday school class.
