Raymond Arnold Pate, age 61, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Lenoir North Carolina.

Raymond was born on January 5,1962 to the late James and Eleanor Pate.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law Dean Holt.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; Lori Pate. Children Sarah Holt; husband Vincent "Tiny", Evan Pate, Cannedy Pate; wife Sarah, Lexi Pate and Jayden Pate, grandchildren; Raelyn, Rylie, Skylyn. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters; Marilyn Pollarine, husband Wayne, James O. Pate, wife Debbie, Tommy Pate, Mara German and Catherine Pate; along with 5 nephews and 3 nieces.


Raymond was born in Germany but lived his young life in Lenoir, NC until he served his LDS Mission in Las Vegas, NV where he served 2 years. He served the community and the church until returning home to Lenoir. He attended college in Rexburg, ID at BYU Idaho where he met his wife Lori for the second time in a turn of fate after meeting the first time during his mission. They were married on June 24, 1983 in the St. George Utah Temple where they were sealed for all time and eternity. Together they lived and raised their family in Las Vegas, NV. Raymond was a well known member of the Boy Scouts of America where he served for multiple years as a scout leader. During his time of service he was awarded the Silver Beaver. He helped multiple young men complete their Eagle Scout projects. Raymond was known to always be out in the community supporting the young men and women of his LDS wards by attending their sporting events, theatrical performances, community service projects and being a mentor to all who needed it. In 2016, Raymond relocated with his wife and 2 youngest daughters to Lenoir, NC. He continued to be a dedicated member to the LDS Church and had callings in Elders Quorum, Stake Young Mens President, Sunday School Teacher, and his final but favorite calling was Primary Teacher. In both Las Vegas and Lenoir, Raymond could always be found at a live sporting event, local school sports, or taking part in his great-nephews concerts. It was a joy and pride to support the youth and always make sure they knew they had a cheerleader in the stands. Raymond Pate was beloved by many and will be missed beyond measure by those who knew him and were blessed to have him in their lives.

A service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel on Connelly Springs Rd, Lenoir, NC. Date and time currently pending.
