R.B. Holsclaw, Jr.of Lenoir passed from this life on Sunday February 11, 2018 at the age of 94. He was born September 12, 1923 to the late Raymond Holsclaw, Sr. and Eula Setzer Holsclaw. Mr. Holsclaw was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hudson, where he had served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and deacon emeritus.He was formerly a member of Blair's Fork Baptist.He worked in the furniture industry for many years.He was a member of Woodmen of the World for 75 years, and made numerous friends through that organization. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Faye Mathis Holsclaw, and a brother, Bill Holsclaw of Newton. Surviving him are his son, Steven Holsclaw and wife Debra of Granite Falls; one granddaughter, Elizabeth DeHaan and husband Andrew of Claremont; and two great-granddaughters, Liliana DeHaan and Isabella DeHaan. R.B. was deeply loved and respected by those he leaves behind—family, friends, former co-workers, and fellow church members.He was a gentle and good man, and will be greatly missed. A service to celebrate R.B.'s life will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Hudson.The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00.Officiating at the service will be the Reverend Dr. Wade Dellinger.
