Raymond Marshall Annas, 84, of Belmont, NC, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. A native of Caldwell County, Raymond was born on December 11, 1940, to the late Fred Marshall Annas and Alice Pennell Annas.
Raymond was preceded in death by four beloved sisters—Lois A. Hoyle, Judy A. Barlow, Sandy A. Summerlin, and Jan A. Ledford—and four cherished brothers—Sherrill “Bud” Annas, John “Jerry” Annas, Kenneth Annas, and Neil Annas.
Raymond is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Caroline Nichols Annas, their loving daughter, Kristi Annas Hilliard, and son-in-law Todd Hilliard. He was the proud and adoring “Papa” to his three grandchildren: Jaelin Hilliard, Kyah Hilliard, and Ash Hilliard, all of Concord, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Ruthie Gragg; his brother, Roger Annas and wife Linda; and his sisters-in-law, Martha West (Dennis), Mary Seagle (Earl) and Donna Annas; as well as brothers-in-law Clarence “Nick” Nichols (Robin), David Nichols, Richard Barlow, and Eddie Summerlin. Raymond’s family circle extended even further to include numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved and cherished. His relationships with them brought him immense joy, as he loved spending time with his extended family and creating treasured memories.
A proud United States Army veteran, Raymond was an active member of American Legion Post 144. Following his service, he worked for more than 40 years in the furniture industry before retiring to dedicate more time to his growing family and hobbies.
Raymond was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an exemplary grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he adored every moment he spent with them. He found great joy in gardening, canning, completing puzzles, framing art, and building birdhouses in his workshop on the family property. He also treasured his time with friends at the American Legion, where he built meaningful, lifelong relationships.
The Memorial Service will be held at Oakwood Presbyterian Church 3665 Deerbrook Road, Lenior NC 28645 on Saturday, January 4, 2025, receiving will be begin at 1:00 PM, with the memorial service following at 2:00 PM with Doc Lawing officiating.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and care team at CaroMont Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided during Raymond’s illness.
Raymond will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
