Lenoir– The Lord Jesus called his faithful servant, Raylo Smith, to his real home on October 26, 2015. Raylo was a true Christian gentleman and was loved and respected by all his family and friends. He was a brick mason in and around Caldwell County for over 50 years, with his friend and business partner, George Adderholt. Raylo was a member of Miller Hill Baptist Church for 75 years. He will be missed by family, friends, church and community. The family thanks you for your prayers and love shown in so many ways to them during Raylo’s home going. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parent’s, Isaac and Cora Greene Smith;wife, Agnes Smith; son, Jerry Lee Smith; and brothers, Ransom Smith, Riley Smith and R.J. Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his son, June Ray Smith and wife, Janice; brother, Rex Smith of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Tommy Smith, Jenna Proffit, Jerry Ray Smith, Jason Smith, Leeann Torella and Josh Smith; and great-grandchildren, Ben Proffit, Brad Proffit, Charis Proffit, Ezra Proffit, Ellary Smith, Cora Smith, Grace Torella, Dom Torella, Jordan Smith and Austin Smith. A celebration of Mr. Smith’s life will be held at Miller Hill Baptist Church on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Steve Parker and Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. Music will be provided by Smith Folk and Alvin Sumpter. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ben Proffit, Brad Proffit, Ezra Proffit, Jerry Ray Smith, Jason Smith, Randy Smith and Geroge Adderholt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Simmons, Carl Lovins, Jerry Petrea and Doug Johnson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
