Ray Loyd Turner

Lenoir, NC- Ray Loyd Turner, age 83, of Lenoir, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Camelot Manor Nursing Home in Granite Falls. Born June 9, 1927 in Caesar, NC, Ray was a son of the late Walter Bunch and Mary Ellen Odum Turner. Ray was Methodist by faith and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Caesar, NC. He was self employed as a carpenter for 48 years and was also a Navy Veteran. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Evelyn Turner; four of his children, Jeffery R. Turner, Kandace Turner, Kevin Turner, Keith Turner; and a grandson, Kenneth Ray Turner. Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Rebecca Turner Thompson, husband Joseph, of Lenoir; a son and daughter in law, Michael Ray Turner, wife Anna Lynn, of Boone; Five grandchildren, Daniel lee Turner, Julianna Love Turner, Mary Ellen Edwards, Charles Lee Thompson, and Emily Thompson Church; he is also survived by seven great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. The family will be having a private memorial service at a later time. Memorials can be made to the March of Dimes.
